Day 13 – Badajoz, Spain to Talavera de la Reina, Spain – 119 mi.

There is archeological evidence that humans have occupied the Kingdom of Spain for more than 35,000 years. Roman Catholicism is the most popular religion in the country. According to several sources (Spanish official polls and others), about 76% self-identify as Catholics, about 2% with another religious faith, and about 19% identify as non-believers or atheists.
“Talavera de la Reina is the place where the famous blue and yellow "talavera" tiles were first made. Both the technique and the tradition of covering church domes and walls with colorful tiles traveled to the Americas with the colonial Spaniards. Architectural and artistic tiles are still made in Talavera today.”
