Day 9 – Summersville, WV to Staunton, VA - 96 miles

Part of our day today we will be hiking on the Appalachian Trail, a marked footpath that extends from Maine to Georgia, a hiking distance of 2175 miles. The trail was conceived in 1921 and completed in 1937. We continue on to Staunton, VA and their convention and visitor’s bureau suggests that “the best way to experience the historic and architectural flavors of Staunton is on foot.”
