Meeting Minutes

Tuesday, Aug 29, 2006

Members Present: Bill Bartscher, Bennett Griffin (Chair), Harold Jones, Margaret Jones, Jerry Niebaum, Michelle Parmley, Candice Ranney, Stitt Robinson.

Advertising Update: We discussed the Journal World ad and on Harold’s recommendation we changed the dates the ad will run to the following: Sep 8, 10, 12, and 14. The thinking was an additional day would allow more people to see the ad before things kick off that weekend. Also, we discussed what will be in the ad and determined that we need a picture of the new building, the logo, addresses, phone number, website address, a map, and highlight the Community Open House, KU Game Night, and Saturday Fun Day events.

In addition, we have agreed to a radio ad with KLZR/KLWN. This will be a 30 second spot that will run 40 times on KLZR and 40 times on KLWN for $500. Also, they will run a print ad in the Hawk Sheet for no additional charge.

The live remote from West Campus on KU Game Night by KLZR/KLWN looks like a real possibility, but we do not have final confirmation just yet.

Grand Opening Week Team Meeting: Bennett met with Lucinda Crenshaw and her team last Sunday afternoon. There were several requests for help with specific events and Bennett highlighted those needs. [I apologize for not having a list of those needs. I believe Bennett has those notes in the Grand Opening Week Marketing Notebook.] The team is very appreciative of the work we are doing.

Misc Updates: The deadline for the last 1^st Edition before Grand Opening week is this Friday Sep 1. If you need to write an article for your event, please get those to Candice by Friday.

Bennett has learned that the Chamber of Commerce has a ribbon cutting ceremony already scheduled for Sep 14 at 4:30pm, which conflicts with our hope to have the ceremony at West Campus during the Community Open House from 4-7pm. The Chamber members and City Commissioners that attend these functions usually don’t want to schedule more than one per day, but Bennett is hopeful they will make an exception in this case. We’ll know more at our meeting next week.
