Promotion Brainstorming: The
PR and advertising focus for the above events can be divided into 2 categories:
internal and external. The internal promotion (focus on the congregation) will
go in the newsletter, Sunday morning news, website, special mailings, etc. The
external promotion (focus on the community) will go in the Lawrence
Journal-World, Channel 6/TV, radio, and targeted outreach to civic groups. On
the PR side, we hope to get some publicity in the Journal-World and on Channel
6 News. Paid advertising will focus on the Journal-World, radio, and TV within
the limits of our budget, which is undetermined at this time. We began putting
deadlines for promotion on a calendar. Some specifics:
Sun Aug 20, Kick Off Sunday:
internal & external promotion; article in the Aug 19 LJ World on Tom;
confirm worship plans for that day; times for mid-morning worship and Sunday
school classes will change to 10am.
Sat Sep 9-Sat Sep 16, Consecration Week: internal & external promotion; internally,
special mailings, colored cards in worship service, bookmarks with the calendar
of events listed; externally, LJ World article in the Sep 6 or 9
issue, crawler on Channel 6, ad on Channel 6/TV, feature on Channel 6 News,
talk with Hank Booth on KLWN, and targeted communication with civic groups
(Douglas County Historical Society).
Next Meeting: Tuesday, Aug 8th, 7:30pm.
