Meeting Minutes

Tuesday, July 25, 2006

 

Members Present: Bill Bartscher, Bennett Griffin (Chair), Harold Jones, Margaret Jones, Michelle Parmley, Candice Ranney, Patti Winn. We were joined by Tom Brady at the end of the meeting.

Branding con’t: We continued our discussion on branding focusing on the name and logo. Candice prepared several name and logo designs for us to evaluate. The discussion on the name came down to using either “First Church: A United Methodist Family” or “First United Methodist Church.” The logo design boiled down to either the traditional United Methodist cross and flame or our own Uplifting Hearts logo that has been used the last few years. The final name and logo chosen were “First Church: A United Methodist Family” with the traditional cross and flame. Please see the website for the final design. In the final few minutes, we moved the discussion to the slogan and decided to go with the national conference’s slogan “Open Hearts. Open Minds. Open Doors.” The reasons for this were numerous, with the amount of time we have to prepare before our grand opening being the biggest factor.  

Survey: Each team member is responsible for getting 10 survey responses from the congregation. Remember, we are looking for a good representation of the church, so all age groups and other various demographics should be considered when selecting our targets. Bennett would like all surveys to be turned in by the Aug 8th meeting. Phone interviews are acceptable. For a copy of the survey questions, please see our website.
