West Campus Grand Openings Overview: Since many people had missed the previous meeting, Bennett again
reviewed a June 11 meeting of the team leaders of the ministry game plan. There
will be two grand openings of the Celebration Center on West Campus. August
20 will be “Celebration Sunday.” The purpose of that day is to
communicate to Church membership the plans for opening the new facilities. In
addition, the new worship times will go into effect on this day. The only
announced change at this time is mid-morning at the downtown location will move
from 9:40am to 10am. September 10 will be “Consecration Sunday”
and will be the beginning of a week of celebration and activities related to
West Campus. Current plans have our Bishop at the 9am services on West Campus
and the 11am services at the downtown church. There will be a potluck picnic at
12:30 on West Campus and an Olympic-style torch run from downtown arriving at
West Campus during the potluck festivities. Events throughout the week will
include a pancake feed, carnival, “Fun Run,” and a chance to see the new big
screens showing the KU vs Toledo football game along with a tailgating event.
All events are still in the early planning stages.
Strategic Plan: Bennett
handed out draft 3 of the Strategic Plan. We continued discussing Section 5, Performance
Measurements. It was determined that we need a baseline survey conducted within
the next 30 days that will reveal where we currently stand on communications
within the church with the exact survey being conducted in 6 months and then at
one year to measure how we are doing. We then discussed specific questions for
the survey. Those are as follows:
