Minutes of the Spring Planning Committee (Ad Hoc Steering Team)—May 27, 2007

1.  We brainstormed names for our upcoming spring sessions.  Possibilities might include a development of the theme of  Until You Have Walked in my Shoes…” as a leader for both sessions and then being very detailed with the descriptions for each, such as  “A Committed Church Partnership Shares their Story”  and  “Simple Stories about Real People with Homosexual Children.”

2.  We decided that Carol would set menus and email a call for volunteers for the April sessions, as we have done in the past.

3.  We examined a potential Vision and Goals sheet.  (*see below)

3.  We decided that we should continue to promote Reconciling Hearts goals at the same time as the group with Tom Brady is promoting its small group idea with Mission and Justice and Council on Ministries. We would pretty much continue with educational offerings and making Reconciling Hearts visible.  We also discussed some of the ideas from Ann Arbor and decided to consider the following:

                a.  have an information table at least once a month at each site.  It would include our trifold poster,                   our brochure, the answer to the multiple choice question which we would show very                                          large on the PowerPoint, other paper to describe our group and our mission, another                                                 brochure of questions and answers; and a sign-up sheet for new “members.”

                b.  explore how to make the rainbow pins by looking for ribbon, tack pins, a model, and writing a                                       card to attach it to. The text may be our Vision Statement. The pins would be available on                            our information table once a month.  “Members” would wear their pins every Sunday.

                c.  think about developing a cart of check-out materials for the general membership.

                d.  develop a list of factoids for the Powerpoint. They might be in the form of a question with                                            multiple choice answers. Develop them at the information table on the same Sunday.

                e.  select certain days of the year to have a major push, at this time undefined, i.e. World Aids                                           Sunday, Reconciling Sunday…
